Across America: Camano Island, Washington to NYC!

I finally moved back to NYC! I never thought I would be here, but so is life. Full of surprises, and never-ending 🙂

I decided to drive, yes drive! again, I might add, from Camano Island to NYC. My travels took me through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York!

I was one happy woman in my car. I think that if you can drive across the country once, you are Blessed. This trip marked my fifth time…maybe I am just crazy 😀

Secret Islands and Misty Heavens of the Pacific Northwest

My journey continued as I made my way through the Pacific Northwest, where the air transpired into a deep, icy chill but the overwhelming beauty of the nature warmed my soul. I was surrounded by trees of all flavors; cranberry, amber, and evergreens resembled the make-believe winter villages I had come to adore as a child. My family liked to collect bits and pieces of a running train set every year, and it was set in an imaginary place, similar to the picturesque countrysides of Oregon and Washington.

I ended my exploration at the magical islands just south of Victoria, and here I feel at peace. When I look around, and gaze at the glorious spendlor that envelopes me, I can’t ever question that God exists. How wonderful He is, and how Blessed I am to be in the midst of serenity, here in my special place.

Between the desert roads of California to Texas…and back again.

I decided to take a roadtrip to the 2014 NEDA Conference, and relish in all of the scenic beauty along the way. California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas greeted me with open arms, and every state had a personality all their own. Can you match each photo to its respective state? Happy traveling, whatever state of life you are in 🙂 God Bless, <3 Nikki DuBose

Charleston Tidbits by my Dad

Dad wanted to share some intimate moments from his travels around his home turf of Charleston, South Carolina. A country boy at his core, my dad loves nature and simple pleasures such as boating, fishing, and crabbing. How much I do miss home…it’s without words!  My beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, you will always have my heart.

Fall Time Fun Back at Alstede Farms, NJ

Bunnies, cows, pigs, oh my!! I was in hog-heaven this Columbus Day weekend at Alstede Farms in Chester, NJ. Not only was the scenery surrounding the Fall-Festival breath taking, but the “scene” inside the park wasn’t half-bad either! From kiddies to pumpkin fudge (who knew?), animals galore to more Pick-Your-Own activities than you could shake a honey flavored stick at!!

I don’t know about you, but fall time is my absolute favorite time of the year. The beautiful colors on the leaves changing signal that the Holidays are a-comin’ and that the layers on my clothes will be a wrappin’!! I am so thankful for the beautiful seasons that God has created, but fall and winter have always been my favorite! You can be sure I will be blogging much more during this time as it brings back my childhood memories with my family, and I love to create that here on my website.

The South of France, Where I go to Rest my Soul.

Out of all the places I have visited, none have compared like the South of France. From the dreamy lavender fields and Midsummer Night’s Dream-like air of Provence, to the way that every aspect of nature looks like it it carved out of a painting, my soul is truly refreshed when I come and stay here. The quality of the food, the smell of the fresh, uninterrupted air, and the rare, precious quiet time I have in the countryside is something that I encourage all of you to treasure wherever you may have it! Here is a peak of the way I see life in the many cities on the Provence region.

So there is a full complete rest still waiting for the people of God. Christ has already entered there. He is resting from his work, just as God did after the creation. Let us do our best to go into that place of rest, too, being careful not to disobey God as the children of Israel did, thus failing to get in. (Hebrews 4:9-11)

In my action-packed life, I thank God for the opportunities to rest and relax!!

Marbella

I had a wonderful time in Marbella, Spain this week shooting an advertisement for a mall in Madrid. This was my second time working with the wonderful photographer Marcos Romani and the rest of the crew were a dream to spend with in sunny Marbella!! Marbella is a posh and unique beach town that rests just on the border of the South of Spain and Morocco.

For more info about Marbella, check out the Wikipedia page, found here.

My photos from the ads will be up soon, so be sure to check back often on my “See Me” Section. Here’s some pics I snapped during my short but sweeeeet down time!!

Happy Easter from Barcelona!!

I used to love eating sweets every Easter growing up. I would like to say that as an adult this had changed, but sad to say, the desire is still there. As a model, I cannot, so I simply leave it to the imagination and exchange the sweeties for a healthier lifestyle. Today before church I went out on the beautiful beaches of Barcelona, Spain as I took advantage of the Easter holiday I had off from shoots.

After three straight months of booked shoots, I have been feeling the need for rejuvenation and sunshine!!

In the Bible, Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day. I believe and know we can receive through Christ’s Love, Rejuvenation and Resurrection from ANY difficult situations we may be going through. God’s Love is here to see us through and make us better and stronger when we come out than we have EVER been before!!

I had a wonderful time in the sunshine (with 50+ sunscreen, of course,) hopping around playing volleyball for a couple of hours and just thanking God for the beauty that is so naturally abundant, day and night.

Yes, I miss my family back in America. Because I have been working in Europe for over a year, I have not seen them since 2010!! But, I know then when I get to see them again this year, I will have so much to share and grow with them.

Life is all about embracing the moment and feeling the warm sunshine on your face.

I hope you all have enjoyed this Easter, and remember, Jesus ROSE AGAIN!!
This means, we can overcome ANYTHING WITH HIM!!

God loves you!! All of you!!

God Bless,

Punta Cana, My Home Away From Home

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, was eight days of editorial shooting with, dare I say, an absolutely incredible team! The A&R staff were genuinely some of the kindest people you would ever want to meet, and I cannot wait to return to Punta Cana, my tropical home away from home…

San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain

Only had twenty four hours to drive five and a half hours from Barcelona each way to San Sebastian in the unique Basque countryside of Spain. The Basque region is still fighting to be its own independent area from Spain and France. Less Medditteranean and more Oceanic and lush, marked with fluffly sheep, green rolling countryside and the ancient Basque dialect still spoken by locals, the Basque was my choice for a get away from it all excursion where I stepped back in time and celebrated my birthday. You know you have arrived to San Sebastian because the coastline is marked by many charming fishing villages. I felt like I had charted a sailboat and boarded a journey for a far away land, with no regards for what surprises might lay ahead. And as they say in the Basque language, “Egun on Izan Dezala!!”, which simply means, ” Have a nice day!!”

Pisa and Sailing around the Southern Coast of Italy

The end of Summer 2011 came to a close with a smooth sail around Capri and the southern coast of Italy. I also got a chance to see the leaning tower of Pisa, not Pizza like I used to refer to it when I was a little girl 😉

I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I enjoyed this summer journey.

Rome, Italy

This was my second visit to Rome and everytime I go I fall in love more with this enchanted, ancient city. I find the best time to visit Rome is in the fall when the weather is a bit cooler.

The food is absolutely to die for in Italy, no matter what town you happen to find yourself in. I tried this restaurant one night in Rome that was set in an old chocolate factory where every gourmet, home-cooked dish was based around chocolate. I can not remember the name of the restaurant, can someone PLEASE help me out?

Memory Lane

You know the phrase, “take a stroll down memory lane?”  The above photo that I took a couple of years ago literally transpires this phrase. I took this picture during Christmas of 2009 in Charleston, South Carolina, on the familiar road that led to my childhood homes.

For many years growing up I had to travel down this shadow moss lined road. For me it was the tunnel of terror, for passing through this lane guaranteed I would end at my fear-stricken home. My family lived in two houses on this street, the latter of which  we moved into when I was around eight years old.

If you would have asked me even a couple of years ago what this picture represented, I would have given you a basketful of negative nouns and adjectives.
This photograph used to represent:

*Never ending
*Terror
*Hell
*Dark
*Shadows
*Abuse
*Sadness
*Punishment
*Guilt
*Fear
*Abandonment
*Pain

At this Glorious and God-Filled Point in my Life, however, my descriptions have done a total 180 degree flip.
Now I see this photograph as Positive.

This picture NOW represents:

*A beautiful, long stroll
*Glory
*A Glimpse of Heaven
*Light-Filled through the Spanish Moss
*Guardian Angel’s Shadows
*Love…God’s Love and My Life that is now Filled with SO much Love.
*Joy, pure unbridled Joy
*Rewarding…to know I am Saved by Grace.
*Clarity…able to see and appreciate all of the Miracles in my Life.
*Security
*Adopted by God
*Good Vibrations…all over my skin
*My Heavenly Father

The oversized trees that hung down used to remind me of haunting ghosts trying to capture and hurt me. Now when I visit this road, I see the same trees as Guardian Angels giving me huge hugs. The bits of light peeking through the trees and
clouds no longer represent dimness, but rather the soft and gentle outpouring of God’s Hope, Warmth and Miracles.
When I look at this photograph I see the little girl once scared and hurt, now a confident woman doing cartwheels down memory lane.

London

I love eclectic, beautiful London!! Every time I pop into London for work, I am filled with excitement and memories of past fun with clients and friends.
While I was there last time I ran into a very talented hair artist from NYC, explored the Tate Museum, and did some great work with GHD London among many other wonderful clients.

Cheers!!

We will always have Paris

I adore Paris. For the month and and half I have spent here, I can honestly say not a single moment went by that I wasn’t utterly appreciative or happy! BLESSED!! Not only did I spend time with my amaaaaazing French friends, but made a connection Ill never forget because of this city 😀 Paris is one of those rare, protected cities where every corner, every turn is beautiful and leads to another great work of art. I will always remember the insanely delectable desserts, impeccably dressed Parisians and the wild cold Fall air that produced an energy unlike any other. I may be gone for now, but YOU know…we will always have Paris 😉

Peace, Love and LIGHT 😀

Jerusalem

One of the most modernized cities in Israel, I was surprised to see that every day at least four major religions meet in this city. Muslims, Christians, Armenians and Jews converge in what are known as the four quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem.

As a Christian I was thrilled to see the labeling of religions taken off and the love and acceptance brought on by the love of God.

I hope you enjoy my photo blog.

The Evergreen City of Dallas, Texas

So I am here for a couple of days shooting in Dallas, Texas, and the southern hospitality is incredible! If you ever get a chance to come here, I highly recommend The Smokehouse restaraunt; some of THE BEST gourmet barbeque (ish) dishes I have ever had. The cheese grits hominy casserole is TO DIE FOR!! The best grits/hominy dish I have ever tasted.
Dallas is a very green city, much different than my home in NYC!
Here’s some photos from around the town, at work, etc.

Bahamas

I had the joy of being asked to host the Swimsuit Competition alongside Jenna Jameson and Jaslene Gonzalez from Americas Next Top Model in Atlantis, the Bahamas. Decked out in Versace and taking a break in the clear tropic waters of the Caribbean for a few days was an offer I couldn’t refuse!!

Lanzarote, Spain

A tiny, volcanic island surrounded by the Grand Canarias, Lanzarote is a rare prehistoric treasure waiting to be explored for tourists all over the world. I flew here for a week long job and had the time of my life in what little time I managed to squeeze in between shoots.

I felt like I was back in the dinasour days!!
