You know the phrase, “take a stroll down memory lane?” The above photo that I took a couple of years ago literally transpires this phrase. I took this picture during Christmas of 2009 in Charleston, South Carolina, on the familiar road that led to my childhood homes.
For many years growing up I had to travel down this shadow moss lined road. For me it was the tunnel of terror, for passing through this lane guaranteed I would end at my fear-stricken home. My family lived in two houses on this street, the latter of which we moved into when I was around eight years old.
If you would have asked me even a couple of years ago what this picture represented, I would have given you a basketful of negative nouns and adjectives.
This photograph used to represent:
At this Glorious and God-Filled Point in my Life, however, my descriptions have done a total 180 degree flip.
Now I see this photograph as Positive.
This picture NOW represents:
*A beautiful, long stroll
*A Glimpse of Heaven
*Light-Filled through the Spanish Moss
*Guardian Angel’s Shadows
*Love…God’s Love and My Life that is now Filled with SO much Love.
*Joy, pure unbridled Joy
*Rewarding…to know I am Saved by Grace.
*Clarity…able to see and appreciate all of the Miracles in my Life.
*Adopted by God
*Good Vibrations…all over my skin
*My Heavenly Father
The oversized trees that hung down used to remind me of haunting ghosts trying to capture and hurt me. Now when I visit this road, I see the same trees as Guardian Angels giving me huge hugs. The bits of light peeking through the trees and
clouds no longer represent dimness, but rather the soft and gentle outpouring of God’s Hope, Warmth and Miracles.
When I look at this photograph I see the little girl once scared and hurt, now a confident woman doing cartwheels down memory lane.
